Filner increased services for veterans healthcare . . . particularly our National Guard and Reserve veterans. This included an additional $200 million increase for fee-based services and $250 million in funding for a new rural health initiative. Post-delivery care to female veterans' newborns is also now offered, thanks to Bob's work.
Bob Filner brought the GI bill back to San Diego's brave men and women coming home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan! Like our troops from World War Two, America's finest can now get a 4-year college degree, including an annual $1000 for books & supplies. Soldiers and veterans can also transfer education benefits to their spouses and children.
Thanks to Bob, thousands of veterans are eligible for low-interest loans, greatly expanding homeownership opportunities. A veteran's home may not be foreclosed upon for nine months after their military service.
